Apple has granted access to selected software developers to rough iPhone development tools. Apple is making a pre-release version of its iPhone (SDK) available to a small pool of hand-picked companies, Speaking to Fortune, Apple’s VP worldwide iPod product marketing Greg Joswiak recently said: "I think the software development kit (SDK) that’s going to be available for the iPhone is very interesting, because we think that with the revolutionary multi-touch interface and the phenomenal product that the iPhone is, and certainly having OS X underneath it, that it’s going to be an unbelievable platform for developers," he said.
"Of course what we want to make sure we’ve done is keep the phone safe and reliable, and that’s why it’s taken us a little while to get this SDK out. Especially now that we’ll have a real SDK which means legitimate developers are going to come into the space."
Just as Apple shook up the phone industry with its advanced iPhone, Google hopes to do the same with the networks that manage mobile devices.
Earlier this year, Google made clear its intent, under the right conditions, to make a $4.65 billion bid for the 700 MHz wireless spectrum the Federal Communications Commission is putting up for auction in January.
Those plans are becoming more definite, with Google already running a test version of an advanced wireless network at its Mountain View, Calif. headquarters, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal today.
Last month, CEO Eric Schmidt told analysts his company is open to working with partners on the FCC bid, but according to the Journal, Google is now working out a plan to finance the bid using its own cash and possibly some borrowed funds. source

Mozilla Corporation promised to devote much more time and resources to a version of its web browser for smartphones. At that time, though, it didn’t specify which mobile operating systems would be getting a version of Firefox. This has now changed. Christian Sejersen, who is heading up this project, has added a post to his blog that lists the OSs that are being targeted. There is already a version of Mobile Firefox for Maemo, the version of Linux being run by the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet. Mozilla is also considering updating this for the Nokia N810But it isn’t going to stop there.
