Ferrari Special Edition “RAZR V9″ By Motorola

Design
When Motorola gave us the RAZR V3 oh so many moons ago it was the must have phone. It was slim, sexy and metallic. Topping it off it had not one colour screen but two colour screens. For a while the orders poured in and Motorola found itself wallowing in vast vats of cash. But after three years and countless derivatives, including the hideously gaudy Dolce and Gabbana version, last year Motorola finally coughed up a successor, the RAZR2 V9.

It’s a nice looking phone, slimmer than ever before, but, for a world caught in the stampede to the latest touchscreen creation from the house of Apple, it wasn’t enough to re-capture the zeitgeist. So, Motorola has gone back to its tried and true tactic and given us the Ferrari Special Edition.

So what does the extra US$89 over the standard RAZR2 V9 give you? Well it’s piano black for one and there are red highlights on the lovely metallic keypad. There’s a chequered pattern on the front posing, we guess, as imitation carbon fibre. A similar pattern adorns the rear battery cover and is presumably there to remind us about finishing flags or some such. Naturally there’s a plethora of Ferrari material scattered around the place, like the Ferrari prancing horse shield on the back, ringtones and a set of animated wallpapers and screensavers. But the pièce de résistance are the sounds of Ferraris whooshing by every time the phone is started up or turned off — this should give everyone fair warning that there’s a Ferrari fanatic in their vicinity.

Features and Performance
We could live with all this Ferrari showmanship if this phone delivered in one of two key areas: enhanced features and performance, or Ferrari-led design. Alas this phone has neither. It is, for all intents and purposes, apart from the cosmetic differences we’ve listed above, the same as other Motorola RAZR2 V9s.

Conclusion
So for your hard earned you get a good 3G phone — for a more complete run down of the ins and outs of the RAZR2 V9, read our review of the original phone — but one that doesn’t do anything to justify the price increase over run-of-the-mill RAZR2s.

SpinPoint N2 120GB 1.8″HDD By Samsung

Right now we’re in the era where 2.5-inch HDDs rule. But how long this “era” lasts, we don’t know. It could take some time before the smaller 1.8-inch HDDs take on forms with higher storage capacities. Luckily, Samsung just announced its 120GB 1.8-inch HDD that’s about the size of a credit card.

The hard disk drive doesn’t seem to have an official name yet, but it’s currently being referred to as the SpinPoint N2. The drive is enclosed in a glossy black chassis which is really quite appealing, if I may say so myself. Samsung seems to be convincing the Cupertino headquarters into using the drive for the iPod and the MacBook Air. However, Samsung will also be selling it as a stand-alone drive in the Chinese market. The 120GB model is quite pricey though, at $293 a pop, which just makes you re-think about the importance of having a hard drive that fits in your wallet in the first place. Check out the pics of the slick Samsung SpinPoint N2 below, as well as the ever-present gratuitous picture of a pretty lady with the gadget.

Use Via USB

1.8" hard drive capacity hasn’t quite caught up with that of 2.5", but at least Samsung has broken through the 100GB barrier with the its SpinPoint N2. Besides begging Apple to buy a million of these for future iPod classic and MacBook Air, Sammy is also pushing the drive in Chinese market. It doesn’t appear there’s an official name for the 120GB USB drive in a glossy black enclosure with the size of a credit card.

The manufacturers didn’t compromised for an ordinary LED flash rampant in the current camera-phone market but a fully functional Xenon Flash Light. Light and weather conditions is hardly a factor to shoot great pictures with the Sony Ericsson K800i. The powerful camera of the handset is well complimented by a host of imaging features. Various picture effects and a Picture Editor is included to brush up the finer details of a picture. ‘BestPic’ feature takes four shots before and another four after you press the click so gives you a really wide range to choose the best picture. High quality video recording is just another aspect of this CyberShot phone.

The feature list of the Sony Ericsson K800i doesn’t stop at the camera. 3G Technology of the device lets you make Video Calls. The phone gives you triband GSM and UMTS network support. Business utility of the phone are immense. The Sony Ericsson K800i can handle Conference Calls, supports Business Card Exchange and synchronize easily with all popular programs like MS Outlook. Nokia Launches Two Smartphones N79 & N85

A week ago Nokia had promised to bring forth 2 new Nseries models and today it has fulfilled its promise launching N85 and N79. N85 is set to replace N81. N85 has upgraded from the 2mp camera of N81 to 5mp and added GPS both for mapping and for geotagging shots. Also it has switched to a 2.6-inch AMOLED screen that should supply richer color and as much as 28 hours of music playback on a single charge.

As for N79, it will probably take place of N78 with its 5mp camera and dual-LED based flash to replacing 3.2mp camera of N78. Other features include GPS, 4GB micro SDHC storage, WiFi, swappable back covers, and a 24-hour music playback battery life. Both of these nokia phones will be released soon most probably next month.

P2 MultiMedia Launched By Samsung

Be it television or disc (CD, DVD, Blu-ray) players and a lot of other products, Samsung has always been one such player in the market that has tried to in corporate the latest of technology in their products. The fact that Samsung was one of the very few companies who supported the Blu-ray format since its inception proves the point. It is the same case with the portable players. Samsung has lived upto its reputation, as they come up with portable players that include more and more features every time. Loaded with a few features more is the Samsung P2.

Samsung this time, seems to have understood the need of the hour and exactly what the consumers want. Style and utility in the same package, that’s what you get in P2. The black piece we received was style and sleekness personified. No cluster of tactile buttons anywhere (except for the ‘On’I'Off’ and ‘Hold’ buttons on the side), which results in a bigger screen. The only hiccup was that the black finish easily picked up our fingerprints. So if you are fussy enough then it would lead to an addition of 100 bucks in the total deal (for gloves which you will have to pick up).

We have already let out the secret that the P2 does not have any tactile buttons, which means that P2 comes with a touchscreen. You may ask, "what is so great?", as a lot of other players come with touchscreens too. A valid query, but what most of these other players lack is the sensitivity and speed of the touchscreen. Especially when the players have an animated

GUI (Graphical User Interface). each time you touch a button it becomes really difficult to wait for the animation to get over before you can proceed to the next step. Well that won’t be a problem here as the animation stops as soon as you touch the screen to move on. One more advantage is the relative bigger screen. What’s worth mentioning is the Bluetooth that enables you to hook the P2 to any Bluetooth enabled device to use the P2 either as the source or the receiver.

With P2 as the source, you can couple it with a Bluetooth activated headset, while as the receiver you can connect the P2 to a mobile phone and use the P2’s inbuilt microphone or alternate with its headphones. Just like a lot of other players from samsung, the P2 also comes with 4GB and BGB storage options along with other features like the FM radio, voice recording, text compatibility. Also the P2 works with the samsung Media software just as any other media player from samsung.
